BlueDot is currently involved in six projects at Expo 2025 Osaka.
BlueDot has been working with the Participant and their design team during the design and tender phase in preparing the delivery of the Luxembourg Pavilion for Expo 2025 Osaka, Japan. We have ensured the design adheres to Expo 2025 and local regulations, adjusted the documentation to better fit the Japanese market, and helped the Participant to select the best candidate to build their pavilion. The services also include support in the selection of a suitable Japanese contract and contract management. Since construction started in January 2024, BlueDot acts as the client representative in Osaka.

Creating a solid foundation of a tendering process is not an easy task. Being able to set the wireframe for a fair assessment of the submissions and at the same time allow for design creativity is the goal for any Expo design competition. BlueDot has worked with the Dutch government throughout every step of this process to ensure that the submission selected tells the right Expo story, adheres to the Expo 2025 guidelines while also respecting feasibility in respect to construction in Japan and the short time-frame. We have also been appointed to support in the design management, including all Expo 2025 approvals and the successful receipt of the Japanese building permit, and contract management. During the next phases BlueDot follows and advices the Participant regarding the construction, operations/maintenance and decommissioning works.

Countries join Expo events to promote the best and newest in culture and innovation that their home has to offer the world. For this, BlueDot has assisted the Participant in the selection of a design for their Expo 2025 pavilion by reviewing the 38 designs submitted by Czech architects. As a consultant we guide the Czech Centres during the design process and in anything necessary for the approval of the special permit application and the release of their construction tender. The construction of this unique project is scheduled to start in July 2024.

For this project BlueDot supports the contractor GL events in the cost and claim management of the pavilion. Delivering a project in Japan is challenging and with the changing market conditions the experience of BlueDot’s members with German contracts and the client’s expectations during previous Expos seemed key to success.
The journey for the Malta Pavilion started in December 2022 when BlueDot created the 'apparently' winning team for the project: EM Architects, Wevr and GL events. BlueDot has managed the tender submission and is now responsible for the project management, the design management of both the building and the scenography, the supply and installation of the AVL equipment, and the operations of the pavilion. The design will be revealed in October 2024 and construction will start a month after in November 2024.
As part of the team of Exponex our BlueDot members will support the project in two specific fields of expertise: the interface management between the construction and the scenographic works, and in the optimisation of the experience through our AVL expertise.
teamLab Borderless is a world of artworks without boundaries, a museum without a map created by art collective teamLab.
In June 2024 teamLab officially opened its doors to its first immersive museum in the Middle East (in the Kingdom of Suadi Arabia). Situated inside Jeddah, a historic UNESCO World Heritage Site and the gateway for pilgrimages to Islamic holy cities, the new museum spans around 10,000 square meters of floor area and houses over 80 independent artworks and installations.
For this project two representatives of BlueDot supported BeWunder in specific services related to their AVL scope.
Together with V8 Architects, and our Japanese partners Nishio, Yasui and Nomura, BlueDot has worked on the submission for the Design & Build tender published by the Nordic Cooperation. The team has been awarded the second place in the competition.
"This design for the Scandinavian pavilion shows how a special microclimate can be created with sustainable and innovative technology. An example of human ingenuity and an ode to natural phenomena. An ice landscape formed by using sound waves to convert the heat of the sun into ice." (V8 Architects).
